Savoring Summer, One Glass at a Time
Savoring Summer, One Glass at a Time
There's something magical about summer—the long days, golden sunsets, and warm breezes that invite laughter and connection. For me, summer will always be intertwined with wine. It began with a simple afternoon gathering, a chilled bottle of rosé, and the sun shining down as we toasted to everything and nothing at all. That day, I fell in love—not just with wine, but with what it brings: joy, conversation, and unforgettable memories.
My first official wine tasting was at a winery in Mendoza, Argentina. I was nervous but excited, unsure of what to expect. Within minutes, I was captivated—the beauty of the vineyard, the swirl of the glass, the gentle aromas rising to meet me. I tasted a rosé, light and refreshing—like bottled sunshine. Then came the chardonnay: smooth, layered, and perfect with summer fare.
But it was the pinot noir that truly changed everything. Earthy, elegant, and bursting with red fruit, it told a story in every sip. I didn't just taste wine—I felt connected. To the land. To the people who made it. And to my own evolving palate.
Since then, as the owner of Rancho Capistrano Winery, I've had the joy of visiting wine regions across the world with Kyle—from California to Italy to Switzerland. Wine has become a part of not just every summer celebration, but everyday life.
Because in the end, it's not just what's in the glass—it's who's beside you, the laughter shared, and the way time slows down with every toast. Wine has made my summers richer. And as I reach for a glass of rosé or my favorite Santa Lucia Highlands pinot noir on a warm evening, I'm reminded that life's sweetest memories are made—one sip at a time.
